I’m Marie, responsible for Product across Glue from product design to the launch of new hardware and software products and the improvement of existing customer experiences.
The team is responsible for design and product development for everything from our smart lock and how our customers interact with them in our Glue app to how they use our InHome Delivery service. We work to continuously improve all customer experiences, to make them easier and better and how to take ideas and work with engineering to bring them to life.
The day always starts with a product and engineering team stand-up where we look at priorities for the day, what we accomplished yesterday and what we can do to unblock any potential issues. From there it could be a range of activities including sprint planning, catch ups with marketing and commercial, to brainstorming with the team about things to build and release. Just to name a few!
Calm, silly… and loves chocolate.
The whole crux of Product is finding customer problems and figuring out how to fix them. I love seeing a pain point and being able to work with Engineering to not only solve it but hopefully turn it into something that becomes a delightful experience. I love seeing the work we do and how it makes people’s lives better. In Product you can really see the impact of what you’re doing on the lives of our customers.
Another thing I love about Product is that it touches on all other areas of the business. We work closely with our hardware and software engineering colleagues as well as marketing, commercial and beyond. We never work in a silo but are collaborative at our core.
I’m really proud of the team who brought our Glue Apple Watch App to life earlier this year. I'm also excited about all the progress we've been making recently towards an exciting new product release coming later this year.
I’m looking for people who have a passion for solving customer problems and who get excited by seeing real results. Being data driven is hugely important to help inform Product's work and prioritisation.
I also look for people who are very good at working with others - gathering info from across the business and synthesising all of that into a pragmatic solution is a real skill.
Lastly, off the top of your head, what’s Glue’s culture in 1 word?
Collaborative. The thing that struck me, particularly whilst onboarding into the team remotely during lockdown in November 2020 was that everyone at Glue loves working together to help each other achieve our goals.
